Sports Report Week Commencing 9th October

U9A vs Daneshill

The U9A team came up against a very strong Year 4 team from Daneshill, and lost their second game of the season 4-1. The boys were a credit to the school and battled the whole game and the score line flattered the opposition. Ethan played very well at the back and for that, he was awarded man of the match.

Mr Bovingdon.

U8B vs Daneshill

The U8B football team hosted Daneshill at our home ground, Sulhamstead.
Daneshill were clearly a very talented team from the off but St Edward’s were their equal for most of the first half. A couple of moments where we lost concentration near half-time meant we went into the break 2-0 down.
We started the second half brightly but, as the match wore on, it was clear our opponents were the better side and deserved their eventual win.
Daniel was superb in goal, plus Nathan and Rohan impressed with their improved play and bravery. The Man of the Match goes this time to Nathan.
Well done boys.

Mr Morgan-Nash.

U9B vs Daneshill

The St Edward’s U9B football team played a gripping match against Daneshill. St Edward’s had the run of play for most of the first half. Sanay and Abdulqadir both forced some great saves from the Daneshill goalkeeper and Max was a constant threat for the defenders. It was a St Edward’s defender, Musa, who scored the first goal. The goalkeeper blocked a shot from Abdulqadir and Musa struck a ferocious shot into the net. First blood to St Edward’s! The score remained one-nil for most of the game, until a lucky deflection in the second half gave Daneshill the equaliser. This gave the home side greater confidence and they started to string some dangerous passes together. Adhrit made some last ditch saves and Matthew and Musa were called into action several times to make vital tackles. In the end Daneshill scored the winning goal with a spectacular curling shot into the top corner. Overall, a fantastic performance from St Edward’s that nearly resulted in an away win. The Man of the Match this week was Musa for his hard work and application.

U8A vs Daneshill

The under 8As showed that they had matured and grown stronger in their game against Daneshill. It was a tough match with some excellent defending by Dylan, and great resilience shown by our goal keeper, Luca. Unfortunately, Daneshill got the better of us this time but St Edward’s are a much improved team.

Mr Parsons.
