Sports reports for weeks commencing 6th and 13th November

Wednesday 8th November

U11c v Brockhurst

On Wednesday, the U11C football team journeyed to Brockhurst. We enjoyed a very close match that belies the fact that we lost 5-1. The first half was a tight affair, but Brockhurst had a slight advantage over the St Edward’s boys. We lost the first half 2-0, however Yadveer did extremely well in protecting his goal to stop it being a larger gap. The second half started brightly for St Edward’s, we had many chances at goal and were unlucky to score on several occasions. Breakaway goals from Brockhurst put it beyond contention despite our constant pressure. Just as we thought we weren’t going to score at all, Joshua made a great run down the wing and scored a superb consolation effort. For this, and for his performance as Captain he is awarded Man of the Match. Well done.

Mr Morgan-Nash.

U10 v Brockhurst

Wednesday saw St Edward’s travel away to Brockhurst where unfortunately the boys were beaten by a well-organised Brockhurst side. The first half was a close contest where the boys did extremely well including some fantastic saves from Samuel, but at half time, unfortunately it was 2-0 to Brockhurst. The second half started very brightly for St Edward’s where Rujul broke through and had a fabulous strike in to the bottom corner to get us back in to the game. After this Brockhurst started to run away with the game and the final score was 7-1. Even though the game got away from the boys, it was fantastic to see their character and determination keep going to the final whistle. In particular, Aedan really worked his socks off throughout the whole fixture.

U8B vs St Neot’s

The U8B football team played away at St Neot’s in a very close and fun match. Neither team managed to put the ball in the back of the net, however this detracts from what was a highly entertaining game. Jordan and Kai had plenty of chances throughout the game and Nathan and Taig were strong in defence. Thomas made several very accurate passes to set up attacks and covered defence brilliantly. Ultimately, the match ended in a draw and Kai was our Man of the Match for his very brave and strong performance. Well done boys.

Mr Morgan-Nash.

U9A vs St Neot’s

On Friday, the U9A team produced their best performance of the season beating St Neot’s 2-0. Goals from Jo and Izak made sure we came out on top in this one. Some very good defending from William and man of the match made sure we kept our first clean sheet of the season.

Mr Bovingdon.

U8A v Daneshill

The under 8As were fantastic on Friday and took part in a really well organized tournament at Daneshill. They played six different schools in the tournament and were able to make it to the semi-finals, finishing fourth overall. Well done boys. I am proud of you.

Mr Parsons.

Friday 17th November

U9A v St Andrew’s

Friday saw the U9A’s go over to St Andrew’s. The game started quickly and we found ourselves 4-0 down at half time. The second half was a lot better and the boys dug in and scored two goals (Jo and Ethan with the goals). If the boys played the whole match as they did in the second half, the game would have been a lot closer. Final score 5-2. Man of the match was William.

Mr Bovingdon.

U8B v St Andrew’s

The St Edward’s under 8B football team played against a strong St Andrew’s side. The match was played in good spirit and the St Edward’s boys demonstrated good resilience and determination throughout the fixture. Their behaviour and attitude both on and off the pitch was exemplary and I was extremely proud of them all. The team played extremely well, taking much from previous training sessions into the match, but two boys stood out for me. Jordan showed great strength of character and bravery to score our first goal of the afternoon, sliding to slot the ball home from close range (before crashing into the post) and Thomas, who had been called up from Year 2 to play as we were short of players, battled all afternoon and scored our second goal. Both boys have been awarded Man-of-the-Match.

Dr Cane-Honeysett.
