Joining St Edward’s

Admissions process

Boys generally join St Edward’s in Little Griffins Pre-Reception Class the September after their third birthday, in the Pre-Prep department the September after their fourth birthday, or in the Prep department the September after their seventh birthday. However, places in other year groups occasionally become available, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Boys will be considered for admission and entry to the School when the Registration Form has been completed and returned to us and the non-returnable Registration Fee of £50 has been paid. All boys will be invited to visit the school, and have a taste of life here. Boys joining Pre-Prep will spend an hour in the class they will be joining while boys entering at Prep level, from Year 3 and up, will be invited to visit the school for part of a morning to undertake a series of short tests.

Following this, parents will be invited to meet the Headmaster, giving you an opportunity to discuss any queries you may have, and to ensure that both you and the school agree that St Edward’s is the right place for your son to thrive.

A formal written offer is then produced which is accepted by confirmation in writing along with a £500 deposit to secure the place.

Limited bursaries may be available. Contact the Registrar, Mrs Sara Burton at for details.
