Whilst the current pandemic has thrown up some challenges in how St Edward’s Prep continues to provide a high level of education and learning to our pupils, it has introduced some fantastic and flexible technology to the way the school runs.
As a consequence we are able at very short notice to provide the usual full and varied curriculum online through Microsoft Teams so that our pupils do not miss out.
During lockdown earlier in the year, we were one of the few schools in the area still providing a full school day taught by our teachers online. Registration happened as normal at 8.40am where all pupils were expected to log in and register with their teachers.
A day of tutorials then followed including, Maths, English, Science, Geography, History and Art with assignments set for each. Once complete, these were then uploaded to Teams for the Teachers to mark and feedback on.
The school day would finish at 3.45pm. All children were also encouraged to get outside and participate in some form of daily activities as they would normally in a school day.
St Edward’s Prep has also adapted the way it keeps our parents involved in all the wonderful things that are continuing to happen in school. Our Friday Celebration Assembly has continued but with the opportunity for our St Edward’s Prep parents to join us online through Microsoft Teams.
This term our Parents’ Evening appointments have also happened online to continue that constructive and important dialogue with parents. For the first time ever our Nativity and Carol Service will be videoed and provided through an online platform.
Finally we have been using our social media channels to provide updates including the Annual Cross Country, end of half term Football tournament as well as the very poignant Remembrance Day Commemorations.
All of the staff here at St Edward’s Prep hope that our efforts are helping our pupils and their parents continue to feel part of our school community and fully supported during these unprecedented times.
