STEAM in Pre-Prep

We take great pleasure in helping our pupils discover the mechanics and chemistry of the world around us.

Science is vital to the world’s future prosperity and continues to change lives. All pupils are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through Themes of Investigation, pupils build up a body of key foundation knowledge, concepts and skills. Whether our Pre-Prep children are engaging in water experiments, or looking at plant and animal life cycles they are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, investigate, predict how things will behave and analyse causes. They are invited to see themselves as game changers and encouraged to have the confidence and courage to make a difference by the actions they take.

Computer Science in Pre-Prep is all about getting to know computers and other electronic devices and how to use them. We believe in giving children the confidence, creativity and problem solving needed to be successful users and programmers of computers. Therefore we encourage children to play and explore different functions of different hardware and software through structured tasks that end in real outcomes. The subject is taught in a cross-curricular way linking in all the subjects of the curriculum where necessary. The pupils love our activities based curriculum where they are always working towards a fun outcome. Whether they are programming robots to solve a maze or animating underwater worlds they have designed, they are always excited to find out what they are going to learn next.
