U8a v Brockhurst U8B

Result 3-2

Scorers Max x 2, Alex 1

Team

Max, Alex, Lewis, Josh, Gabriel, Harrison, Callum

In a short affair against Brockhurst, the scorelines flattered the opponents who scored with the last play of the game to even the score. Max and Alex were always dangerous up front and threatened regularly and Callum was combative in midfield throughout.

U8a V Reddam House

6-1

Team: Alex, Max, Harrison, Arshmaan, Josh, Lewis, Gabriel, Josh

After soaking up some early pressure the first goal came from Max. The ball finally found Alex on the right hand side who produced a fine cross for Max to convert.

St Edwards extended their lead just before half time as Arshman chipped the keeper from close range.

Shortly after the start of the second half Reddam scored from long range. Fortunately Harrison returned the margin to 2 with a fine effort after dribbling through the centre.

A quick double salvo from Harrison and Alex extended the lead to 5-1 shortly before the end of the game. Lewis then added to this to move the score to 6-1 which was the final score.

Under 8B and C vs Holme Grange and St Andrew’s.

What a pleasure it was to take the Under 8B and C for their first fixture. The Bs played really well with all the boys making a fantastic effort. They defended really well against Holme Grange and managed to snatch a last minute break away winner from Daniel. Against St Andrew’s we played excellently with great shots from Arshmaan, Brian and Luke and some awesome goal keeping from Toby. We just could not get the ball in the net and drew 0 – 0.

The Cs were very committed and followed the ball well. Sameehan led the team well and Brian played well in goal. A couple of narrow losses but a good first fixture and lovely match tea!

St Andrews v St Edwards

0-0

A brilliant contest played out by 2 very talented teams. A battling midfield display by Taig set the basis for a good 0-0 draw and he was unlucky not to score after hitting the crossbar late in the match. Man of the match Alex for some fine goalkeeping.

St Edwards V Holme Grange

1-1

St Edwards soaked up a lot of pressure early doors and this eventually told as Holme Grange tucked away a goal from close range. After a swift break St Ed’s had a corner and after a fine corner from Tommy, the ball found the back of the net via a Holme Grange leg. Despite soaking up pressure, St Ed’s saw out an impressive 1-1 draw. Man of the match Taig for amazing defensive work under pressure.

Wednesday 18th September

St Edwards vs Thorngrove

A very impressive performance from the Colts B team today.

For the majority of the first half the boys controlled the ball and passed very well allowing them to keep piling the pressure on the opposition.

HT 0-0

More of the same followed with Max Williams coming close with multiple shots that forced some brilliant reaction saves from the Thorngrove keeper. Baichen also went close to scoring. This was just before a very good solo run and finish from one of the Thorngrove players that Daniel couldn’t keep out after some very good saves throughout the game.

FT 1-0

MotM: Nag

After a transition from the C team to the B team Nag showed some great composure on the ball and some very good defending this allowed him to win and retain the ball for the team and creating a few good chances for other players to score.

2-1 V Brockhurst (Loss) Swift

3-2 V St Andrews (Loss) Swift x 2

It was a case of what might have been against all the opponents in the afternoon. Elstree, St Andrews and Daneshill all scored in the dying seconds of their respective games to deny points to St Edwards and Tommy hit the bar with the last kick against Brockhurst that would have rescued a point. Special mention to Tommy and Taig for their incredible work rate, Man of the Tournament goes to Moussa for his strong Defensive work throughout.

Colts C Vs Papplewick

Papplewick are always a strong opponent and they did not disappoint. Our boys must be congratulated for how well they battled and they lasted for almost half the game without conceding. Papplewick finally managed to break through just before half time and then grew in confidence scoring a few more in the second half. Our boys were fantastic though. They did not give up, kept on fighting and almost scored a last minute goal. After the game they were all smiling and commented on how they had enjoyed a hard match but a great learning experience. I was really proud of them.

Wednesday 2nd October

The Colts B side played out of their skin on Wednesday afternoon against a very strong St Neots side. They can be very proud of their efforts and they didn’t stop running or give up all afternoon.
Final score:
St Edwards 0-5 St Neots.
Man of the match went to Rufus

Colts C

The Colts C did themselves proud on Wednesday. The St Neots team were good but full of confidence from a positive game last week the boys were calm and knew if they gave there all they could cope. That they did. Some great attacking and defending from both teams and some outstanding defending from Darsh, Nag and Karthick and some great keeping from Sanay meant St Neot’s were kept out for most of the match. Christian and Felix kept leading our attack and had some exciting chances in the second half. Unfortunately, St Neot’s manage to break our lines once and score the only goal of the game but the boys were all pleased with their attitude and effort which could not be faulted. Men of the match were Sanay and Darsh.

Friday 4th October

U9A

The U9A team kick started their season today with a close 3-2 win vs Reddam. All the boys had good games. Alex was very good in goal and Artharva was solid in defence. Thomas was excellent as usual and got himself a goal. But man of the match went to Anirudh who got himself two very well taken goals.

U8B

What a fantastic game for the Under 8 Bs. It is great to see the boys making progress in their football, gaining in confidence and working as a team more and more. The game was end to end with the game tied at 1- 1 for a large part of the game. Against the run of play Reddam managed to score in the final minutes. However, a great game for everyone.
