House Cricket

On Friday 25TH May, St Edward’s held its annual House Cricket event. This year we have been fortunate enough to use Sulhamstead Cricket Club as our base for sports. With the sun out and the pitches marked up, this meant that the afternoon looked set to be a great one. The venue was full of excitement and many parents and grandparents came along to see how the boys are doing. All boys from years 2-6 participated in a total of 12 games. All the boys stepped up and produced some excellent cricket as well as sportsmanship.

In the years 2-4 tournament, there was some excellent bowling and fielding shown throughout and the boys all stuck to it to show off all their talent. The older boys helped the younger boys out and led by example. The final standings in the year 2-4 section were:

1st St Patricks

2nd St David’s

3rd St Andrew’s

4th St George’s

In the years 5-6 tournament, there was also some excellent cricket on display. The boys showed great teamwork to make sure everyone was involved. There were some cracking cricket shots being played and many 4s being scored. All the boys helped contribute to their team’s overall scores. The final standings for the 5-6 section were:

1st St David’s

2nd St George’s

3rd St Patrick’s

4th St Andrew’s

The overall standings for the House Cricket cup were:

1st St Patrick’s (795 points)

2nd St David’s (775 points)

3rd St George’s (758 points)

4th St Andrew’s (692 points)

Well done to all the boys on producing a superb afternoon of cricket.

Mr Bovingdon.
