U8As v Holme Grange

Man of the Match: Moussa

The U8A team had a very close game vs Holme Grange on Friday losing narrowly 4-2. All the boys played with enthusiasm and worked well as a team. Their passing has significantly improved and there was some excellent strategy starting to form as the boys looked for space. Moussa and Taig found this space and took off with speed, they both scored tries as a result. Thomas, Ollie, Anirudh and Jonathan worked hard in defence and did exceptionally well in only their second game of touch rugby. It was great fun for Thomas and Ollie to play against 3 Holme Grange players that are in their Redingensian RAMs team on a Sunday.

U8Bs v Holme Grange

Man of the Match: Isaac

On Friday the St Edward’s Under 8B rugby team played their first match of touch rugby. They had been practising the previous day and were eager to try out this new style of rugby. They faced tough opposition in Holme Grange who were well-organized in defence and broke quickly when attacking. St Edward’s made some excellent tackles to slow the Holme Grange attacks down but struggled with their formation during the breakdown of play which Holme Grange exploited. On the attack, St Edward’s looked dangerous and came close to scoring several times, but fumbled the ball or just ran out of space on the pitch at pivotal moments. Towards the end of the first half St Edward’s sorted out their formation and it was Holme Grange that began to make unforced errors. Just before half-time, St Edward’s scooped up a dropped pass from Holme Grange and Isaac made a diagonal run through the Holme Grange defence to score our first try of the afternoon. This lifted the boys’ spirits and they began the second half much more strongly, restricting the Home Grange scoring to four tries and managed to score again in response. This time through Toby who ran from inside his own half, side-stepping two defenders before crossing the line. Although the final score was against them, there were many positives to take from the game. The boys’ discipline and formation improved throughout the game. Their tackling was tentative at first but as they became more confident they began to win the ball in key areas which caused Holme Grange real problems. The man of the match this week for his resilience, vision when attacking and holding position in defence was Isaac.

U8Cs v Holme Grange

Man of the Match: Mert

The U8Cs had a very successful afternoon winning their first game of the season 8-7. It was a very exciting game and the boys played tremendously. Mert scored 4 tries, Arayn scored 2 tries, Jishnu and Jacob got one try each. The boys defended very well in the second half with Callum and Thomas C defending well for the team and stopping the attack of Holme Grange. Man of the match went to Mert.

Mr Arter

U9Bs v Holme Grange
Man of the Match: Mihai

The Under 9Bs put up a spirited performance in their rugby match against a very quick and strong Holme Grange team. Despite our best efforts to stay in game we were second best on the day. MOM was Mihai for his never give up attitude.
