U8 vs St Mary’s

A combined Year 3 and 4 rugby team faced St Mary’s on Friday at Sulhamstead. St Mary’s got off to a strong start scoring quickly despite some good defending from St Edward’s. They increased their lead thanks to a well-organised defence turning over the ball and swiftly counter-attacking. St Edward’s were 5-2 down at half-time but grew in confidence as the match progressed and were beginning to pass the ball around with greater aplomb. They got the best possible start to the second half, scoring three unanswered tries to bring the scores level. St Mary’s soon regained the lead however, which they retained for the rest of the match finishing the match as worthy winners. St Edward’s played extremely well and fully deserved their six tries but could not quite match the pace of St Mary’s. The Man of the Match this week was Dylan for his powerful running and strong tackling.
