Sports Report week commencing 12th March
U10A v Daneshill
The U10A team played at Daneshill on Wednesday and came away with a hard fought victory. The boys worked hard in defence and kept the ball alive in attack to win 9-2. Try scorers were Max, Ollie with two and both Jacob and Alfred scored three! The man of the match was Alfred.
It’s been a great season for the boys only losing one game. The boys have put in the highest level of effort and determination to make it a success and I look forward to teaching them again in Year 6.
Mr Bovingdon.
U11A v Daneshill
Thank you Daneshill for an excellent and end to end game of rugby played with a great sporting spirit. St Edward’s were determined to win their final game of the season and played with purpose from the first whistle.
St Edward’s linked up really well, off loading the ball and keeping the game alive. Our rucking was strong and our tackling superb. Although Daneshill fought back and played an excellent second half, St Edward’s managed to keep ahead.
All the team played well but a special mention to Thomas, Captain Khalil and Isaac who played out of their skins. James and Lewis were solid throughout the game. Iffy managed to get a good try but Man of the match went to Nathan for some great rucking, tackling, support play and what must have been his first try!
Mr Parsons.
U10B vs Daneshill
The U10B team travelled to a very wet Daneshill to play their final match of the season. Several of our players nobly volunteered to play for the opposition as they were down on numbers that day, but all gave of their best.
The final score was 5-4 to St Edward’s, and I am delighted that the boys got a victory to complete a successful season. Man of the Match was Joshua M – he has improved throughout the term and never needs to be asked twice to do what is necessary, plus is becoming an accomplished rugby player.
A special thank you to all the parents who were no doubt faced with a very muddy kit to wash that evening!
A great term, and a super match – well done boys.
Mr Morgan-Nash.
U9A v Daneshill
On Friday, the U9A team had their final game of the season vs Daneshill. The boys were excellent throughout the game and displayed the best rugby of the term. The whole team stuck together in defence and attack narrowly winning 8-7. Owen and Ethan both scored three tries and Izak scored two.
The boys can be very pleased with their season and have worked hard on teamwork and working for each other.
Man of the match went to Owen.
Mr Bovingdon.
U9B vs Daneshill
The U9B team hosted a strong Daneshill side at Sulhamstead and gave them a tough match, but ultimately finished second. Mohamed played strongly, and Musa is always very strong in the tackle – both enjoyed a good game. Man of the Match went to Lekan for improved skills in attack and defence, plus showing good commitment.
It is always a learning experience when facing tougher opposition and the boys needed to show great resilience to keep going all the way to the end of the game. I know many are looking forward to the cricket term, but they can be proud of a great rugby performance over the past few weeks.
Well done boys.
Mr Morgan-Nash.
