Sports Report week commencing 22nd January

U8A v Holme Grange

The under 8A rugby team travelled to Holme Grange and participated in a very closely contested match. Both teams played some excellent attacking rugby and the game came down to the wire. The home side narrowly getting the victory despite the best efforts from a spirited St Edward’s team. The man of the match was Om for his superb leadership skills, organising the defensive line and demonstrating powerful and purposeful running with the ball. The match finished 10-8 to Holme Grange.

U8B v Holme Grange

The Under 8B rugby team played two matches against Holme Grange and thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon of rugby. They won their first match 5-4 thanks to some fantastic running from man of the match Jordan, who powered across the try line three times to put St Edward’s in the driving seat and demonstrated excellent determination in defence, chasing down every Holme Grange attack. The boys gave everything to win their first match and were extremely tired going into the second game. They came close to scoring several times but couldn’t quite get across the try line. The Holme Grange team were sharp in the tackle and quick to pounce on any mistakes, but St Edward’s kept on playing until the very end demonstrating great resilience and hard work. St Edward’s continue to improve game on game and are looking forward to their next fixture.

U9A&B v Holme Grange

On Friday 26th January, the U9A and B hosted Holme Grange. Both games were very well contested and close games. Holme Grange were very strong but the boys had to be at their best. Mohamed was the standout for the B game and Ethan was head and shoulders above his team mates in the A game. Great afternoon of rugby from all.
