Year 2 went minibeast hunting

Year 2 have been studying Variation in Science and have noticed how many different minibeasts there are. So we went Bug Hunting in Pangbourne Woods as part of our Outdoor Experience.

We found a wide and varied number – identified as an earwig, a ladybird, a large spider, bees, a fly, woodlice, beetles (including a rather large red one), ants, centipedes and a millipede. We discussed how they were all so different and what was similar about them all. The boys collected them in a ‘Bug bank’ and watched them being released back to their homes. They were rather quick!

Another really successful day.
