German Tour 2019
The Year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to go on a football tour to Koln, Germany last week.
The tour consisted of: 2 training sessions, a match vs a local team, a tour of Bayer Leverkusen FC,s ground and a day at Phantasialand theme park.
We left school at midnight and took the 12 hour coach journey to Koln. We travelled through, France, Netherlands and Belgium to get to our destination.
When we arrived at Koln we had our first training session with Koln academy coaches learning the German way of playing. After having lunch we travelled to our accommodation at DJH Youth Hostel, Cologne.
The boys were split into 5 rooms. During the week we had spot checks of rooms as well as German and Football quizzes.
On the second day, we all woke up for breakfast and made our way to Bayer Leverkusen for the stadium tour which was followed by another training session with the Koln coaches. In the evening, the boys had their fixtures vs a local German team (FC Bensberg). Both teams competed very well narrowly losing both games.
Day 3 was the day we went to a theme park. The boys split into two groups. One group wanted to rest the roller-coaster and the second group went off to try the log flume and water rapids.
On the last night we had several completions such as, Worst hair style, best hair style and best dressed. Each boy was allowed to either mess their hair or style it well to win points for their rooms. Max won the worst hair and Dimeji won the best hair.
Overall, the tour was very successful and all the boys represented the school to the highest standard.
