I don’t like cricket…. oh no….. I love it!

The Summer terms games afternoons at St Edwards are focused on Cricket. The boys all get 2 hours practice in each week coupled with a competitive fixture against another school.

Year 3 and 4 play paired cricket and year 5 and 6 play 20/20 hardball cricket.

For games afternoons and fixtures, the boys travel to Sulhamstead Cricket Club and are able to use their top of the range training facility.

Director of sports Nick Bovingdon leads the afternoon with help from cricket specialists Mr Arter and Mr Jones. Mr Parsons and Dr Cane Honey-sett also help out with coaching teams and leading them for fixture afternoons.

The main focus for the term is batting. Being able to react to a bowler and learn all the shots necessary to improve and score runs. Many of the boys are now playing club cricket due to their enjoyment of sports and this is only helping to the success of St Edward’s Sports.

The Colts A started their cricket season strong with a 92 run victory.

Alex and Sanay got us off to a solid start with 20 runs between them. Yadveer and Max both retired on 26 runs each which gave us a total of 120.

Oliver kept well in the field and we managed to bowl Reddam out in 11 overs.
Pick of the bowls and man of the match was Haider. He finished with 2 runs and 4 wickets from his 2 overs.
