Sports Report Week Commencing 15th January

U10B v Brockhurst

Wow, what a great game of rugby this was! We unfortunately lost the match 8 tries to 5, but it was end-to-end rugby and demonstrated just how much the boys have improved in one week.
Jashan was superb, he not only captained the side well but also scored three tries. Nathan showed that he could overcome an injury to also score and Josh put in a Man of the Match performance in both defence and attack. Special mention also goes to Oliver and Aniket who so very nearly scored their first try.
Well done to all the team – I will be a happy coach if every match is as exciting as this one.
Mr Morgan-Nash.

U11A v Brockhurst

Under 11A had a fantastic clash against Brockhurst U11As. They fought hard the entire match and demonstrated that they had learnt from their game last week. It was a really even game that ended in a 15-15 draw.
Mr Parsons.

U10A v Brockhurst

The U10A team travelled to Brockhurst for their second game of the season this week. A very solid performance from the boys in defence held Brockhurst at bay throughout. Alfred again was excellent scoring two tries. Oliver, Demiji and man of the match, Max, also got tries to give St Edwards a 25-0 victory. The boys are really showing superb teamwork and with the help of Jacob and Zac in the rucks are starting to look like a talented team.
Mr Bovingdon.

U11B v Brockhurst

What a pleasure it was to be apart of a great fixture. Unfortunately, the result did not quite go our way as Brockhurst defeated us 16 tries to 6.
However, t
he boys showed a great attitude and desire to keep going and never gave up until the final whistle.
Josef was outstanding, scoring 5 out of our 6 tries which provided him with the man of the match award. He was a true leader and really kept the rest of the boys going.
Manaswith also had an encouraging game where he also got himself a try and showed a massive improvement in his willingness to get stuck into the tackles.
Keep up the good work.
Mr Jacob.

U9A v St Neot’s

On Friday 19th, St Edwards U9A hosted a St Neot’s and St Pirans. Both games were very close and the boys upped their game during the afternoon. First, we played a strong St Neots team, which we managed to win 6-4. Tries came from Owen, Will, and two each for Izak and Jo. The second game was also a hard game but we defended very well and won 4-3! Two tries each for Izak and Ethan. Player of the afternoon went to Will for his defence and offloads.
Mr Bovingdon.

U8B v St Neot’s

The St Edward’s under 8B rugby team travelled to St Neot’s on Friday to take part in a triangular tournament. The boys played some excellent rugby, scoring four tries and making fantastic tackles. They drew both of their matches 2-2 against strong opposition. All of the boys acquitted themselves well and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The man of the match was Baichen for scoring three tries and demonstrating high levels of determination throughout both matches.
Dr Cane-Honeysett.

U9B v St Neot’s

The Under 9B team hosted St Neot’s in a very close game of rugby. In fact, the match was so close that both teams couldn’t be separated at the end and it finished with the score 9 tries each.
Mohamed was captain for this match and led by example; he was awarded Man of the Match as well for his great decision making and play.
He was a strong tackler, but in no way the only one – Christian also proved he is very good in defence.
Equally, Adhrit was a good runner with the ball in hand and scored several tries for his efforts.
The whole team played very well, although so did the opposition and a draw was a fitting final result.
Well done boys.
Mr Morgan-Nash.

U8A v St Neot’s

On Friday, the under 8As had a great game of touch rugby against St Neot’s. The game was end to end with some great tries from Om, Ronit, Jabari Luca and Kai. Man of the match went to Dylan for a great try and some excellent defensive work.
Mr Parsons.
