Sports report week commencing 8th January 2018
U10B v St Andrew’s
The U10B team hosted St Andrew’s at Sulhamstead in our first match of the season.
The team was captained well by Nathan, and we got better as the game went on. We didn’t win the game, but Jashan and Joshua scored some excellent tries.
Overall, this was a very good first performance against a team that has already played some matches together. Jashan was the Man of the Match. Well done boys.
Mr Morgan-Nash.
U10A v St Andrew’s
The U10A team started if there season with very good performance against a strong St Andrews side. The scores finished 20-15 but it could have gone either way. Man of the match went to Alfred for his tackling throughout the afternoon.
Mr Bovingdon.
U11A v St Andrews’s
What a great first match it was against St. Andrews. They had already had two warm up matches and were a strong team, but we fought hard and gave them a good game. Their coach was impressed with our tackling and attitude of our boys. Well done St Edwards, a good start.
Mr Parsons.
U9A v Bishopsgate
Friday saw the first rugby game of the season for the U9A team. They were excellent throughout the game putting in tackle after tackle and were very unlucky to lose the game 10-9. Owen was on top form along with William but man of the match went to Izak. Every time he got the ball, he gained at least 10 meters.
Mr Bovingdon.
U8B v Bishopsgate
The Under 8’s played their first competitive rugby match against Bishopsgate on Friday 12th Jan and put up a very good display narrowly losing 9 tries to 5 tries. Considering they only had one training session having not played rugby before this was a pleasing performance. There were good performances from Ronit and Luca.
With more coaching sessions and better understanding of the rules, they could develop into an exciting team in the future.
Mr Jones.
U8A v Bishopsgate
The St Edward’s Under 8A rugby team travelled to Bishopsgate for their first fixture of the season on Friday. They were very excited to play and their enthusiasm showed right from the first whistle. The boys struggled initially with the transition from football to rugby and found themselves losing heavily at half-time to a more experiences Bishopsgate side. However, their determination and resilience (as well as some half-time oranges) resulted in a much more competitive second half, with almost everyone on the St Edward’s side scoring a try. The match finished with a narrow victory to Bishopsgate and beaming smiles from the St Edward’s boys for a well-fought game. Kai was a constant threat and thoroughly deserved to be man on the match for his hat-trick of tries!
Dr Cane-Honeysett.
U9B v Bishopsgate
On Friday, we hosted Bishopsgate. The boys battled hard throughout the game and narrowly lost to a strong Bishopsgate team. The man of the man was Adhrit for great overall play.
Mr Bovingdon.
