Whatever Floats Your Boat!

St Edward’s Reception class were very inspired by the Year 6 assembly this morning. The Year 6 students presented their STEAM devices designed to detect mines and help clear the ocean and keep ships safe.
Reception decided to build their own ships made out of many different materials, plasticine, Lego, bubble wrap, corks, bottles and plastic. They tried different combinations of sizes, heights, widths, lengths and depths to see if their ships would float. The ships were launched on water and the experimenting began.
After many attempts and redesign, it was wonderful to see the look on students faces when they had successfully made a ship that floated. Smiles and a feeling of amazement and achievement! What joy learning brings!
