World Book Day Fun at St Ed’s

World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. 2017 marks it’s 20th year, and it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

St Edward’s boys and staff really got into the swing of things with a class full of Harry Potters, an array of super heroes, a fabulous selection of Roald Dahl and David Walliams characters and a special appearance from Mr Bump! Who else can you spot?

Pre-Prep had a wonderful time at Waterstones Bookshop today, spending a book token and listening to two wonderful stories, ‘I Can Only Eat Worms’ by Will Mabbit and ‘The Detective Dog’ by Julia Donaldson. Cheryl the bookseller was dressed as Oliver Twist and she always reads with terrific animation! We were able to exchange our book token for books like Enid Blyton’s Famous Five, Horrid Henry, Where’s Wally, Blob by David Walliams, Everyone Loves Underpants by Claire Freedman and Jaqueline Wilson’s Butterfly Beach. We were complimented on our excellent behaviour and given a sweet as a reward. It was a really wonderful morning!

A big thank you to the staff and parents for helping to make this such a fun and engaging educational day for the boys!
