Year 1 Woodland Trip

We began by establishing essential agreements – rules we all agree to abide by each week. These included: walking not running, staying within the boundary, never wandering off and staying with your partner and not stroking any dogs that we come across.

We then did a safety sweep in pairs to identify any potential hazards. Following Mrs Blackburn’s signal, we met back at the log (our seating area) to share our findings. Here, the boys pointed out trip hazards they had come across, hidden holes and any branches with pointy ends.

After a quick snack, the boys had time to explore but decided to collaborate and build a den using branches that were lying around (see picture).

Before returning to school, we reflected on our morning and discussed what we may do in the coming weeks. Mrs Blackburn is keen to explore opportunities for inspiring writing based on the fact that the boys found a fox’s den – especially as we are reading Fantastic Mr Fox at the moment! What fun!
