Year 2 visited Pangbourne Woods. They made stick frames which helped them to focus when exploring. With eyes drawn more closely to the area they were investigating, small details were much easier to isolate and they saw some very interesting natural phenomena!
There has been so much excitement at St Ed's this week for our Flight theme STEAMED activities. We started in style with the arrival of a flight simulator in the form of a tiny plane. The boys had a fabulous day learning to fly and constructing model aircraft. There were more future pilots in the making when Pre-Prep visited the Berkshire Museum of Aviation on Wednesday.
The Little Griffins enjoyed learning about the Battle of Britain, which is the most fun if you re-enact it!
On Tuesday morning, Reception parents visited the classroom to join the boys enjoyment of STEAMED week. They helped their sons with a variety of different flight related design technology activities. The morning ended with everyone having a lovely aeroplane biscuit made by the kitchen staff.
Last Friday afternoon, All Saint's Church was host to the St Edward's Christmas carol service. From the smallest to the tallest, the boys all performed beautifully. They read, sang, played instruments, and made the whole service a festive joy for all involved.
Eight enthusiastic teams took part in the PTA's annual Curry & Quiz Night last Friday evening. The competition was goodnatured and the banter flowed, helped along no doubt, by the well stocked bar.

St Patrick’s house pupils claimed bragging rights at this year’s inter-house cross-country event. Young runners took to the muddy course at Prospect Park on Wednesday 19th October looking to claim a victory for their respective houses, and there were a number of standout performances throughout the afternoon.
On Friday 30th September, six Year 4 boys had the privilege to take part in a local Maths Challenge organised by Douglas Buchanan at Crosfields School. In total 47 teams took part in an afternoon of Maths challenges, puzzles, investigations, tangrams and dominoes.
