Aboriginies in Australia and Native Americans are said to have used journey sticks to tell stories about their travels.
In Year 2 at Pangbourne Woods, we discussed how we get from one place to another, eg using a map, compass or Sat-Nav. We wondered how we would manage without this? Would our memories be good enough? What if we had a visual prompt to help us remember places as we passed along the way?
So we decided to make a journey stick using creativity, imagination and communication skills just like our school values. We collected leaves, feathers, pine cones, seeds , grasses and plants from the woodland floor. Look out for examples of our completed sticks!
