Sports Report Week Commencing 18th June

19th June West Surrey Athletics competition

On Tuesday some of the Years 4-6 boys travelled to Bracknell Athletics track for the West Surrey Athletics competition. The boys really stepped up and showed some very good sporting ability. The competition was very tough but Jacob managed to win the 200 meter U11 final. The Year 5-6 relay team came 3rd ending the afternoon with some good results. Well done to all the boys.

20th June Cricket at The Oratory

The U10A Cricket team went to The Oratory on Wednesday for the Prep School Cricket tournament. The boys started the day with a loss but managed to get into the semi-final against The Oratory Prep. The boys batted very well but let themselves down in the field and The Oratory caught us with 4 balls to go. Max was excellent during the day as was Sanay and Oliver but Yadveer showed his ability and was player of the tournament.

21st June Tennis at The Oratory

Owen, Thomas H, Josef and Nathan all went over to The Oratory for the Prep Schools Tennis competition. The boys all played to their best ability and both pairs managed to win two games. It was a lovely afternoon of tennis and the boys definitely earned the BBQ that was put on after the games had finished!

22nd June Sports Day

On Friday Palmer Park hosted our annual Sports Day. The sun was shining as we saw some excellent sporting achievements during the afternoon. All the boys represented themselves in very good light and made the competition this year very exciting. Many parents and carers came along to support which made the atmosphere electric around the stadium.
The Pre-Prep were all putting efforts in to gain points for their house and Prep showed how they have improved since last year’s sports day. There were some superb throwing and jumping and Ifi broke the long jump record. The event of the day was the Year 5-6 relay race. Coming round the final bend, St Georges were in the lead but Avi didn’t realise that Jacob was on the final leg for St Patrick’s and managed to overtake Avi to win the race.

Final Placing:

1st St George’s

2nd St Patrick’s

3rd St Andrew’s

4th St David’s

Well done to all the boys and we all look forward to another successful sports day again next year.

Mr Bovingdon.
